Being busy working moms, keeping regular dates with our husbands isn't easy. Fun dates can be expensive, making going out on a regular basis unrealistic, but we're realizing it's something we need to be more mindful of if we want to model healthy, happy marriages to our kids. So to keep us on track, we came up with a bucket list of cheap dates in the Fraser Valley. Having specific date ideas in place, that won't break the bank, makes it a lot easier to schedule one-on-one time. We hope you'll find some inspiration in these affordable and fun date ideas. Which one would you do first? 1. Backyard VineyardsThis place is a gem in the Fraser Valley, and they have a happy hour! Pack your own picnic, grab a glass of wine or a beer on discount, and enjoy the beautiful, serene atmosphere. You can sit inside, but outside is where it's at. There are picnic tables with umbrellas on the lawn, a large gazebo with tables, or bring a picnic blanket and just relax away from everyone. It is the perfect setting for a romantic date. They also have lots of fun stuff going on like board game nights, live music, markets, and more. Check out their website for upcoming events! 2. Dead Frog BreweryIf you are music lovers then Sundays are your day at Dead Frog. Go support local musicians every Sunday between 2:30pm and 6:30pm! If you make it a double date you can enjoy this amazing party paddle. Sample every beer all at once. *Must have at least 3 people in your party to order. 3. Check out a WaterfallThere are so many options in the Fraser Valley. Pack a bottle of wine, and a couple cups, maybe a little cheese plate and you are all set for some romance. Bridal Falls in Chilliwack is gorgeous, and is super easy to get to from the parking lot so you can still dress up if you like. 4. Field House BreweryIf you can sneak away for a mid-week date then Field House Brewery in Abbotsford has you covered. Every Tuesday they have flights on special for $6.75 and live music from 7pm-9pm. That sounds pretty perfect to us! PS-Dogs are welcome on the patio and lawn! 5. Play a Board Game you've never heard of!Embrace your inner child and play a game! The Fraser Valley has some great options, and all offer libations. If you go to the Raving Gamer, or the Boardwalk Cafe then you will have more games to choose from then you can even imagine. If you have a pup, then a date at Raven's Brewing is for you. If you are dog parents, then go to Raven's Brewing for the Boards n' Brews on a Wednesday night and bring your dog on your date (dogs are always welcome).
6. Check out the Pitt Meadows Cheap TheatreThey always have great movies to watch. Pair it with a nearby happy hour and you are sure to have a great date on the cheap! You could also check out the Cottonwood 4 Cinemas in Chilliwack if that is closer to home. 7. Watch the Sunset at Albert Dyck LakeTake a picnic blanket, a picnic and a growler from a nearby brewery like Old Abbey Ales enjoy the sunset. Feeling adventurous? Then try out their public water skiing nights! This is certainly on our bucket list! 8. Stroll the Dykes in Maple RidgeSometimes you don't need to spend a dime to have a good time. This is a really nice walk along the river. The views of the mountains are pretty epic, and it just feels calm and relaxed. Whether you walk or ride your bikes, it is pretty perfect. Bonus: this is very close to the Cheap Theatre! 9. Hike up the Abbey Grind TogetherThe Abbey Grind is a great workout with huge payoff thanks to the beautiful view at the peak. Work up a sweat together, and then relax and take in the gorgeous view (of course we suggest packing a picnic to enjoy at the top). 10. Go for a Bike Ride on the Matsqui TrailThe Matsqui Trail goes on and on and has all sorts of great views along the way. Peddle away and enjoy the fresh air, and scenery! 11. Go FishingTime to go fishing? If you've got the equipment, or can borrow it from a friend, then why not spend some time baiting hooks and relaxing together? Bring your chairs, a few snacks, and drinks and just enjoy being out in nature. Whether you catch a fish or not, hopefully the day will be a success. 12. Play some Pool or DartsOld Abbey Ales in Abbotsford has a pool table and a dart board (they also have a bunch of board games hiding in a cupboard underneath the free popcorn!) Play pool for $2 a game, or darts for $1 a game. With 25 beers on tap, you are sure to enjoy yourself...and if you go during happy hour then you can enjoy a flight or a sleeve for just $5. Oh, did we mention that you can also bring in your own food and your dog? This place is awesome. 13. Play some BocceKingfisher Waterfront Bar & Grill is known for their patios overlooking the Fraser River, but did you know they also have live blues and jazz music on Friday and Saturday nights, a happy hour during the week, and Bocce ball?
